For many years dating your instrument was not possible. The word said that all production lists had been destroyed and barried for all etarnity. Well, that was the truth until recantly. A former co-worker of Bjärton found a dating-list that covers all production made between 1962-1977. He was kind enough to make a copy and send it to Tyko Runesson and Peter Lindahl. A work to sort out known serialnumbers has also been made by me. With this list as a reference, you can get a likely date of your instrument. We have also some pics of different labels that can be a source in dating your instrument. |

| Alexander Lindkvist got the book along with the final production his father bought at the auction when Bjärton went into bankruptcy. Klas Brohagen has done a great job sorting the numbers and collecting facts from the book. Down below is his observations: |
The book includes all produced instrument with the new serial numbers.
It starts 16:th of august 1985 with the serial 1-001001.
The factory stops its activity the 4:th of december 1990,
not 1989 that has been the common belief.
The last serial number in the book is 1-024229. That means that 23229
instruments is registered in the series. With the 286 guitars of the
anniversary model B40/J40 is the total sum 23515 instruments.
Some models before not known:
• B26 (2 produced)
• B30 (11 produced)
• B35 (249 produced)
• C90 (9 produced)
• C100 (193 produced)
• SL50 (2 produced)
• SL60 (2 produced)
• SL70 (2 produced)
It was 265 intruments produced of the model C-110 (Bjärton Classic).
1989 was a 40-years anniversay model produced with it own serialnumber.
It is known as B40 but changed later on name to J40. Total sum: 286
The most common model is B10 with the sum of: 11807
The last produced guitar was a BR-70

| When it was clear to me that
all records of seriels had been lost, I started to collect serials in
order to make a reference list that could be a help in dating the
instrument. My goal was to find as many certain datings as possible and
also collect all the different labels. Without knowing of each other,
Rikard of Vintage Guitars also had began a simular project. We finally got
hooked up with each other and a more complex list was the result of our
two lists brought together.
When it was clear that a historical list of dates had feen found, I thought that our work had been a waiste. But it turned out that we could complete the dates that are not in the list from Bjärton. So the dates fron 1962-77 became "certain years" in our list and the rest of the dates are more our guesses but if I may say so, qualified guesses. |
